“THE SIEGE OF VIENNA: a clash, a meeting”

The exhibition in Pordenone, organised by the director of the local museum Gilberto Ganzer, is developed around Torre di Pordenone’s famous fresco - one of the biggest and most complete frescos existing on the subject – that portraits not only the Siege of Vienna, but also its main protagonists. A precious reference to the figure of Father Marco D’Aviano and his undoubtedly fascinating and at the same time central role in the chronicle of the Turkish presence in Europe around the seventeenth century.
The exhibition venue includes a number of archaeological finds concerning in particular the military sides of the relations between Turkey and Europe.
